Martina McBride Biography

Martina McBride is an American country music singer-songwriter and record producer. She is popular for using the soprano singing style and country pop music. Martina McBride was born Martina Mariea Schiff on 29 July 1966. She was born and brought up in Sharon, Kansas. She grew up on a dairy farm alongside three siblings. Since her childhood, Martina had a deep passion for music. She would spend some time after school listening to records of other popular artists such as Juice Newton and Reba McEntire. At eight years old, McBride began singing in her father’s band. The band’s name was ‘The Schiffters’. The name was adapted from the family name (Schiff). As she grew older, her role in the band also increased; from just singing, to also playing keyboard with them. This also made the bond between Martina and music stronger.
She also performed in Wichita. There, she performed with ‘The Penetrators’, a local rock band. She later got together a group of musicians in 1987. The group was called ‘Lotus’. They were in search for rehearsal space. She rented space from John McBride, the studio engineer, in 1988. The two began dating and were eventually married.

John joined the sound crew of the famous Garth Brooks. He later became his concert production manager. His wife regularly joined him on the road to help him sell Brooks’s souvenirs. Due to this, Martina was offered a recording contract by Garth.

Martina commenced her music career in 1988. In 1992, she released her debut studio album under RCA Records. The album was titled ‘The Time Has Come’. Produced by Paul Worley and Ed Seay, the album’s title track (The Time Has Come) became position 23 on the country music charts. However, the next two singles failed to hit top 40.
She released her second album, ‘The Way That I Am’. It’s two singles made it to top ten. ‘My Baby Loves Me’ was at number 2, while ‘Life No. 9’ was at number 6. ‘Independence Day’, the third single, failed to reach the top ten because it’s video and content was objected by very many radio programmers. However, the video won the Video of the Year and Song of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.
As of 1995, Martina released ‘Wild Angels’. It saw some of its tracks hit the top five. Some of her tracks showed great performance. Tracks such as ‘Wild Angels’ went on to become Martina’s first number one single on the country charts in 1996. Other tracks such as ‘Phones are Ringin All Over Town’ and ‘Swingin Doors’ were less successful.
She released two duets with famous stars, Clint Black and Jim Brickman. Her duet with Black led to her album titled ‘Evolution’. It also led to Black’s albums such as ‘Valentine’ and ‘Nothin But The Taillights’. Martina also did duets with other stars like Bob Seger. As of 1999, ‘Emotion’, Martina’s sixth studio album was released. ‘I Love You’, the lead single, hit number one on the Billboard Country Chart in 1999. She then released her first compilation album in 2001. It was titled ‘Greatest Hits’. It has been certified three times Platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. It is also her highest selling album.
In November 2010, McBride left the RCA and signed with the Nashville Republic. She began serving with producer Byron Gallimore on a new studio album. Her first Republic Nashville single is “Teenage Daughters,” which she co-wrote with the Warren Brothers as well. McBride told Country Weekly that she co-wrote eight of the eleven songs on the album; she decided to write more often because after “Anyway” had become a hit, she felt more confident in her ability to write songs. An album track called “One Night” was released in June 2011 as a NASCAR promotion with a music video.
“I’m Gonna Love You Through It” was released on July 25, 2011, as the second album single. The song became a critical and commercial hit, peaking at number 4 and becoming her first top five hit since “Anyway” in 2006. On October 11, 2011, the album, titled Eleven, was released. His third single was a cover of “Marry Me” from Train, recorded as a duet with Pat Monahan, Train’s lead singer. In September 2011, McBride was nominated for the 15th and 14th consecutive Female Vocalist award of the CMA.
McBride released a new single from a new album called “Reckless” in 2016. Reckless was released by Nash Icon Records on April 29. It was recorded and produced by Nathan Chapman and Dann Huff at Blackbird Studios. The album contains 10 songs, one of which is the “Reckless” single previously released. Making this album feel like “coming home,” according to McBride. Reckless was debuted at position two on the Billboard Charts.
